A talented athlete himself, Coach Manjarrez had a passion for creating a positive environment for boys and girls through sports. He dedicated himself to coaching youths in team sports such as football, basketball, and baseball. Coach Manjarrez brought his vision to life by creating a dynamic program that joined two programs together. Under his direction, the Newport Knights Junior Football & Cheer Programs served as a foundation to support Newport High athletic programs. “You loved everyone around you and everyone loved you.” Coach Manjarrez had a keen sense towards paying special attention to athletes on multiple levels, big or small – be it a little boost in encouragement, small talks, advice on life, etc. He understood the need to reach out, be able to talk with, and listen to his players – be a positive influence to them.
“(We) will never forget how much you helped us.” Newport athletes and their families were an extended family. Paul welcomed everyone to "his" family and enjoyed pizza parties, BBQ's and dinners with athletes, neighbors and their families. He made it possible for athletes to earn Community Service hours coaching. In the process, they learned a lot about others and a lot about themselves. Along the way, they also found a strong friendship that had been built with Paul.
Paul loved the kids, families and programs that allowed his passion to flourish. This community was his life love that enabled Paul to be a greater person. The family is thankful for the opportunity that allowed Paul to live his dreams!
